Glenn Wood founded Wood Brothers Racing in 1950 beneath a beech tree on his family’s homeplace in Buffalo Ridge, Virginia, a humble beginning that grew into one of the most respected organizations in NASCAR history. A remarkable driver and visionary team owner, Glenn built a reputation for innovation, precision and unwavering integrity. In 2012, he was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, honored for his accomplishments both behind the wheel and atop the pit box. As the team matured, Glenn gradually stepped back from day-to-day operations, entrusting leadership to the next generation while spending his time greeting fans alongside his wife, Bernece, at the team museum in Stuart and tending to his garden. Glenn passed away in January 2019 at age 93, leaving an immeasurable legacy that continues to shape the sport and the Wood Brothers organization today.
