Berry Finishes 12th at Bristol

Josh Berry and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team finished 12th in Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway that saw only three caution periods, two of them for Stage breaks. Berry started 11th and was briefly in the top 10 before ending the first 125-lap Stage in 14th place.

In the opening laps of Stage Two, he found himself in the outside groove and dropped back to 20th place. But he regained the lost spots when the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team decided to remain on the track when the caution flag flew for a Lap 178 spin by Shane Van Gisbergen. Berry moved up to 11th for the restart and ran the remainder of the Stage on the same set of tires that he took on during the first Stage break, finishing the second segment in 13th place.

The final 250 laps of the race ran without a caution flag, with Berry gaining one spot to finish 12th, his best finish since winning the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas on March 16.

After a break next weekend, the Cup circuit will be back on the track the following weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.
