Josh Berry and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team continue to show good speed in qualifying by earning the seventh starting spot for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 Presented By Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Berry took that spot with a lap at 186.599 miles per hour around the 1.5-mile speedway on Saturday. It was his third start of seventh or better in the past four Cup Series races, and it came on top of a third-place start at Atlanta and a fourth-place start last week at Phoenix
As he did at Phoenix, Berry and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team posted a significant pick-up in speed from practice earlier in the day. His best lap in practice at Las Vegas was at 181.165 mph, and it came on the fifth of 38 laps he ran in the session. That put him 32nd on the speed chart.
Sunday’s 400.5-mile, 267-lap race is scheduled to get the green flag just after 12:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. Eastern) with TV coverage on FOX Sports 1.
Stage breaks are planned for Laps 60 and 185.
