Burton Qualifies 28th At Kansas

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Menards/Dutch Boy Mustang Dark Horse are set to start 28thin Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Burton, who with the Wood Brothers team is honoring cancer hero Michael Dryman this weekend, took that spot with a lap at 175.439 miles per hour in qualifying Saturday afternoon. Dryman, who has been battling stage 4 metastatic colorectal cancer, is the husband of Sasha Soares, who is employed by Team Penske and works closely with the Wood Brothers team.

In practice earlier on Saturday Burton was 28th on the speed chart with a best lap at 174.859 mph, which he turned on the second of 25 laps he ran in the session. Among drivers who ran 10 consecutive green flag laps he was 18th fastest, averaging 173.049 mph on his first 10 laps.

Sunday’s 267-lap race is scheduled to get the green flag at 2 p.m. (3 p.m. Eastern) with TV coverage on USA Network.

Stage breaks are planned for Laps 80 and 165.
