Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging Mustang Dark Horse are set to start 12th in Sunday’s Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Burton took that spot with a lap at 177.652 miles per hour around Atlanta’s 1.54-mile quad oval on Saturday afternoon.
It was a great session for the Blue Oval contingent as Mustang drivers took nine of the top 13 starting spots including all of the top five.
There was no practice prior to qualifying per NASCAR’s policy for races on the drafting tracks at Atlanta, Daytona and Talladega.
Sunday’s race is the opening event in the three-race Round of 16 in the Cup Series Playoffs. Burton enters the race 14th in the points standings.
Sunday’s 260-lap, 400-mile race is scheduled to start just after 3 p.m., with Stage breaks at Laps 60 and 160.
USA Network will carry the TV coverage.
