Burton Finishes 32nd At Richmond

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging team struggled throughout Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway and ended the night with a 32nd-place finish.

Burton started the race from 31st place and moved up a couple of positions in the opening laps but fell a lap off the pace after 53 circuits.

The DEX Imaging Mustang Dark Horse ended the first 70-lap, caution-free Stage in 33rdplace, a lap down.

During a pit stop following the end of the Stage, the DEX Imaging crew put on another set of Prime tires (the regular “hard” compound) and restarted from 32nd place.

Another pit stop at Lap 118 saw the team once again choose Primes, as they did on another stop at Lap 162. When Stage Two, which also ran without a yellow flag other than the one at the conclusion of the Stage, ended at Lap 230 Burton was 33rd, two laps down.

During the ensuing caution period, the DEX Imaging crew chose to run the softer but initially faster Option tire. Burton restarted 31st and moved up to 28th place before switching back to Primes during a pit stop at Lap 272. The team pitted for another set of Primes at Lap 330.

After an Overtime run to the checkered flag, Burton was scored 32nd, three laps down.

The team now heads to Michigan International Speedway for next Sunday’sFireKeepers Casino 400.
