#21: Harrison Burton, Wood Brothers Racing, DEX Imaging Ford Mustang

Multi-Car Crash Leaves Burton 31st At Pocono

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging Mustang were forced into an early exit from Sunday’s Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway after being collected in a seven-car crash on Lap 121 of 160.

Burton, having just made what was likely his final pit stop of the day, was running 17th on the Lap 121 restart, but just after the green flag was displayed contact from Corey LaJoie sent Kyle Busch spinning into the pack. Burton appeared to be ahead of the fray but was collected anyway, with the damage to the DEX Imaging Mustang too severe to continue.

Burton started the race from 22nd place and ended the first 30-lap Stage in 19th place. The second Stage saw Burton and the DEX Imaging team penalized on a pit stop under caution at Lap 54.

The penalty sent Burton to the rear for the restart, but he and the team battled back and were running 17th when the second Stage ended at Lap 95.

Due to the crash, Burton and the team didn’t get a chance to make a similar comeback in the third and final segment of the race, so they now will turn their attention to next week’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. That race will be contested on Indy’s oval track after the previous three Cup Series there were run on the infield road course.
