Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging Mustang are set to start 22nd in Sunday’s Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway.
Burton took that spot with a lap at 167.557 miles per hour in qualifying Saturday afternoon.
That represented a significant pick up speed from practice earlier in the day, with a best lap at 165.850 mph. It came on the ninth of the 15 laps he ran.
Among drivers who ran 10 consecutive green-flag laps, he was 11th, posting an average speed of 164.446 mph from the sixth through the 15th lap he ran in practice.
Sunday’s 160-lap, 400-mile race is expected to get the green flag just after 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with Stage breaks at Laps 30 and 95.
