Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging team posted their 12th top-20 finish of the 2022 Cup Series season with a 20th-place run in Sunday’s Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Burton started the 267-lap race from 21st place and ended the first 80-lap Stage just outside the top 25.
After a pit stop for fresh tires, fuel and a handling adjustment, he began moving forward in the second Stage, passing numerous other drivers from that point on through the end of the race.
He was back to 21st place by Lap 100 and after an early green-flag pit stop at Lap 119 moved into the top 20 and ended that segment the race in 18th place.
In the third and final segment of the race he ran inside the top 20 and as high as 16th before making a green-flag pit stop at Lap 209. An untimely caution flag three laps later briefly put Burton a lap down, but the DEX Imaging team elected to take the wave-around and he rejoined the lead lap in 19th place.
Burton made his final pit stop at Lap 245 during a caution period for a crash by Tyler Reddick.
He ran the remainder of the race inside the top 20, winding up 20th at the checkered flag.
Burton and the No. 21 team now head to the Wood Brothers’ home track, Martinsville Speedway, for next Sunday’s Xfinity 500 on the half-mile, paper-clip-shaped oval.
